The New 31 Days Challenge - Day 1

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

So like I mentioned before, The Crumpet started a new 31 Days Challenge and I decided to jump in! Should be fun!
So here's my first mani of the challenge, for the Black And White theme.
I started this mani with The Nail Junkie's Snowflake, a white shimmer base with lot's of holographic translucent glitter. Snowflake is a beautiful white polish that is so not chalky! I already told you that I have a thing with white polish and I am always on the look out for some white that is opaque - but not chalky. Well, Snowflake definitely answers this definition. Perfect formula and full opacity in 3 easy coats.

There's this elegance in this polish that somehow made me want to add silver tips to my nails. So I painted the tips of my nails with Holo Silver by 17. And then I started to play a little with China Glaze Liquid Leather. I started with the stripes:

But it felt boring. So I added some fun dots:

Yup, I liked it! But then I had to mess it up...

Oh well.... New Year's Resolution: Memorize the mantra - Less Is More.

Don't forget to check what other participants in the challenge did for this theme!

Hahahaha! Well, hapy 2013 being yourself! Snowflake looks absolutely fantastic, icy queen! Then the stripes and dots, wow. And then boom. It's not that bad, but compared with the previous look it's a tad too much!

Really turned out unique and very classy looking! Love. If you have not already tried/own Orly's Au Champagne...you need to get your hands on it. I also love good whites that are not watery, chalky or going to have brush strokes. Au Champagne is just perfection and like no other white I ever have owned..it's a creamy white with shimmer but the shimmer is not 'hi - I am gold or silver in your face.' It's just stunning. I don't see it in the regular line up for Orly shades at Sally's...but I have run into it with 2 separate Orly releases..last time I saw it on a display was a tiny 3 shade release just for NYE and it came out about 1 week before Christmas 2011...but I do see folks using it a lot for nail art in blogs. It works well with warm shades in nail art. You will love, love it.

I like it both ways. The second way it looks like an abstract tuxedo--very cool. :)

Snowflake is an amazing white! I love the way this turned out! I need to remember that mantra as well. I can't tell you how many times I have messed something up because it needed more pazaz!

I like Snowflake, very particular nail polish! I don't think you messed up your manicure, but also I like it more before that last touch of black.. :-)

I like this! It is very elegant. I wasn't sure about the white base polish but then the last close up picture of just the one nail made me change my mind. I am in the same boat as you looking for the perfect white that is not chalky. I also don't think you ruined it by adding the last black part. It suits the design and the geometrical look it has :)
