31 Days Challenge Day 18 - my Oldest untried

My untried drawer is rather large. There are times when I think it's sad. But in other times I think it will keep me very much entertained when I retire. I mean, come on! Since when the fact that I have so many polishes can be used as an excuse to not buying new ones? The new ones will never be exactly the same as those I already have. Fact of life. But sometimes when I look in there, I find true treasures. Like the one I want to show you today. I bet you recognize this one!
Deborah Lippmann - Mermaid's Dream

Deborah Lippmann - Mermaid's Dream. More or less about a year ago, the entire polish world went mad over this one. So I got it too and just... never got around to wear it. After all, a year ago I was a bit bothered because it's green - not my color, it's glitter - not my style, it's textured - so unpopular... With time, this polish not only has become my oldest untried, but it is also the first polish ever, that I bought and never tried right away. The beginning of a new era...
And today, thanks to Debbie and her new 31 Days challenge, I finally took this babe out and put it on and... fell in love. Where have I been this whole year? This is a true gem. So beautiful, so unique and so before it's time. The formula is great, decent coverage is achieved in 3 thin layers. It is hungry, no doubt. What you see here is 2 coats of Gelous and one coat of Seche Vite over it and the texture is part of the look no matter what. But it is gorgeous. This is a true MUST in every collection.  *Applause*

What do you think? Just a hype or a treasure?

I can't believe you didn't try this for a whole year. :P It's so gorgeous, and it's my favorite Deborah Lippmann polish! :D Did you hear that based on its success, DL is coming out with a Mermaid line of four polishes with the same look and texture? They look interesting. :-)

Ahh I've never liked this polish much, but those are the pictures in which I've liked it the most ^^ I can follow up on positing with this challenge! So sorry!

Like you - not into texture - glitter not my thing - but I bought this when it came out - I was into buying a lot of the DL then - found I wore next to none of them ever. This one I swatched on my white sheet of paper like I do with all polishes and found out it was lumpy so that turned me off right there. I like to look at it in photos and on others but I doubt I will ever wear it.

Hmm... Ok, I admit, I'm under the rock: this is not my thing!!! Maybe if I saw it in real life? I find that no matter how good the pictures, some polishes are just so shy and want to show their true beauty only on real fingers!
