Today I have decided to go for a different thing. It is still untried by me so I think it counts, even though it is not a polish.
My inspiration was The Big Blue, a movie by Luc Besson, and what I am using on my nails is foil. Well, if I have to be completely honest, then it's the foil that triggered the inspiration for the movie and not the other way around. The second I saw this beautiful foil, I thought of The Big Blue. But I think it's the result manicure that's the challenge isn't it?
Anyway, to achieve this look I used Caribbean Tides foil. This is the first time I ever use the foil so my application is not perfect, to say the least... Also, I don't have a sealer and I used Seche Vite top coat on my pinky and index and a regular clear polish as a top coat on the other nails. None is perfect for the foil and it causes major shrinkage. And application of them was very wrong: I shouldn't have stroke more then once on each nail.
I did learn a thing or two about using foil but I would like to try it a couple more times and get my final conclusions before writing a post dedicated to the use of it. So I'm afraid you will have to appreciate my idea today, but not the final result...
The white moon was made with Milani - White on the Spot and the stamping was made using Kleancolor Metallic Black and BM320 plate. This plate has the dolphin with several stars around it. But since I didn't want those stars, I used a very small drop of polish on the dolphin. Then when I used my stamper, I used it's small end and I with a qTip dipped in acetone I got rid of the stars before stamping. Unfortunately, the extra top coat used on my index nail did very bad things to the foil.
But despite everything I can tell you one important thing: it looks bad in the pictures because you see it a lot larger then real life. In person it does not look bad at all! In fact, every person who saw me today got wild over this mani. The girls at work, the guy at the post office, the girl at the supermarket... Everyone!
