Colorful Stripes (Mini Tutorial)

So this is the new month's first post and I have some adult fun nail design for you today. Why adult? I dunno. This is how I feel about it. It's colorful but also black & White; It's fun but its also serious. So to me this is what adulthood means.

So what do you think? Is it fun? Is it adult? Is it for you? Is it not? Ok, here are the details and a mini tutorial: I started this mani by painting half my nails with Sally Hansen - White On, and the other half with these colors - from thumb to pinky: Bondi New York - Uptown Girl, Nfu Oh - MOR 10, BarryM - Mango, Bondi New York - The Limelight and Zoya - America.

As you can see, I didn't try to make it straight lines or anything. I knew I was going to cover the connection lines anyway. So then I started placing my tape pieces. First - over the colors but as close to the white as I can, without touching it.

The next tape is parallel to this one, on the white side of the nail as close to the color without touching it. This leaves the connection line completely exposed to the black polish. I then added a couple more tapes parallel to that one, to create my black and white lines on the tip of my nails. And then I placed the final tape - a thicker piece, covering the color part right under the first tape.

And that's it! The final step is applying a good, very opaque black polish onto the nails (I used Orly Liquid Vinyl) and immediately remove all the tapes. Yeah, I know, I have to practice my taping technique some more, but I did try to keep the lines straight...

Adult or not, this manicure looks great! :-) I think that it would look more adult if you used only one colour (I mean black, white and the third one) on all nails; this way it looks very cheerful! :-)

Cute idea. It makes me think of sweaters. Well that means it must be perfect for fall.

Great design! But don't feel all grown up because of it, it's not THAT serious... :)
