Where in the world - Israel

A very special post I have for you today. This is my entry to Where in the World challenge, for the country of Israel. My own country, where I have been born and raised. Israel is a very noisy country. It's voice in the world is so loud that many people think it's a huge empire, while in fact it's a very small country with less then 8 million citizens. Yup, that's all.
When I thought about how to represent Israel in my mani, the answer was very clear to me. I used the two symbols that are the most Israeli to me. I tried to depict the Israeli nationality alone, without any religious or political references.

So on my middle and ring finger nails you can see the Israeli Sabra - which is me, a native born Israeli. The soft, juicy and sweet fruit of the tenacious, thorny desert plant, known in English as Prickly Pear. On my index and pinky I tried to draw the Jaffa oranges, the symbol of production and the primary citrus export for the State of Israel following its establishment in 1948. If you are curious so can read more about the Sabra person and about the Jaffa oranges.
For this mani I started with three super easy coats of Orange Jelly Shimmer by The Nail Junkie. To draw the Cactuses I used Bourjois - Chlorophylle Vert and a touch of Apple Jelly Shimmer on it. For the thorns I used Zoya - Holly and for the prickly pears I used a local brand - Life Strawberry Smell. The oranges were made with Essence - Wake Up! I tried to add some texture to the oranges like Sarah @ The Chalkboard Nails did, but my dots were just not small enough. I do have a lot to learn... One coat of Seche Vite completed my Israeli mani.

That is so cute! Thank you for sharing about Israel, and drawing such cute fruit; I definitely want to try a Jaffa orange now! And I looved that "The cactus is compared to Israelis, who are supposedly tough on the outside but delicate and sweet on the inside." I wish I was compared to a cactus! :D

I love your representation of Israel! I have lots of Prickly Pear cactus in my yard! My mom visited Israel several years ago and she was surprised at how similar the landscape and climate is to where we live, so I love seeing you indicate this in your bright and colorful mani. So pretty and I really like your Jaffa oranges too. You should be proud of representing your country with such neutrality from politics and religion. That's a tall order this day and age! I love it! :)

Well well well, that's one lovely mani! The fact that you didn't use the traditionnal colors (and star) is very original, and I identified the cactuses right away! Those fuits are called "higos chumbos" in Spain, but I've never tasted them! Cool man, Jinny!

I love your representation, all the more so because I heard that comment about the tough and sweet, prickly-pear-like Israelis from a dear friend of mine... XOXO :-*
