33 Days Challenge - Day 16: South America

Wow, another South American inspired mani today. My little blog have seen quite a few of those recently with Colombia and Brazil from the Where In The World challenge and Mexico in the 33DC. Perhaps this was meant to be the one mani to rule them all? Nah...
When I googled some South American patterns for inspiration, this one caught my eyes. It is actually the work of a design student who was inspired by South American textiles and just wanted to practice. But I really liked the primary colors and shapes and I decided to practice some myself.
Cult Nails Tempest

I started with two coats of Cult Nails Tempest, an opaque white creme that I have been drooling over for a while until I caved in and got it - and it actually delivered. Great formula, full opacity in 1-2 coats depends on how heavy you get them, To the most part it is self leveled. It still has somewhat of that chalky feel that white cremes usually have, but over all it is really a wonderful white creme. Swatches show two coats with no top.

As you can see by the crooked lines, the rest of the design was done free handed. I really need to practice a lot lot more to get over those little shaking of my brush... As for the colors, I used, the yellow is Bondi New York - Brick Road, the red-orange is Sinful Colors Big Daddy and the blue is Sally Hansen - Blue Me Away!

So is there any good way to do such a mani without so much shaking?

How gorgeous! I am in love with the vibrant colours! Don't worry about the shakes, I think it adds artistic touch to the whole nail look making it look very indie :)

But there is this tip where people use pinky as 'stabilizer', maybe you could try that. Practice on paper first then move on to fingers :)
